History is full of events like these
It seems we are always fighting
for the rights we have been denied. Throughout History humans have denied other
humans the same rights and they have had to fight to obtain the rights they
have been excluded from. Humans decided that women were inferior to males, they
decided having a lighter skin color was superior to a darker one, they decided
that it was going to cause massive problems if same sex partners were to marry.
Black Civil Rights
Most are familiar with Martin Luther King's civil rights protests in the 1960s. The majority of Americans have heard his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. But King's dream is still far from realized. Today, people are still fighting for black civil rights. The most prominent and powerful modern example is Ferguson, a town where 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot down by police. The officer involved was not punished, leading to many protests in Ferguson, some of them very violent. The impact of this event has reached across the country, with thousands of people pushing the idea that black lives matter. This, as well as several other police shootings, clearly shows that discrimination against black people remains prevalent in America.

Gay marriage
Today we have a current example of rights being denied to a group of people. Same sex couples have had the right for them to get married denied in many of the states. An influential group of humans have decided that, even though it wouldn’t even affect them, they will deny two people the right to get married. They have decided that because they are different that it is unacceptable and now refuse them a right everyone else has.
